Why is travertine in different colors and do they change according time and conditions

Travertine comes in a variety of colors and shades – in fact, just about every travertine tile or paver features coloring that is slightly unique. This is because it is a sedimentary stone, which means that it absorbs coloring from nearby minerals, such as iron ore. When iron deposits are located near travertine deposits, the iron oxide deposits its coloring into the travertine, causing these slight and often stunning variations.

Many other mineral deposits can contribute to travertine’s coloring as well. Because of this, travertine can often be found in a variety of shades, from the lightest ivory and darker walnut shades, to even dark browns and deep reds. Also we can get travertine and onyx stone together which means some part of the material's age is even more high on earth.

travertine's density is a bit lower when you compare it w/ marble and onyx which makes it more sensitive to weather conditions and sun shine etc. but it does not mean it is delicate, it means the material you use especially in outdoor will get older in in every single change will make it more unique and you will be able to see the mark of the years.
